Dear Delegates, Directors, and Chairs,

On behalf of the Secretariat and Tanglin Trust School, I would like to extend a warm invitation to TMUN26. In an increasingly fragmented global landscape marked by rising nationalism and state-centric decision-making, the power of a state is often wielded without accountability or consideration of the broader consequences that affect millions of people outside the state’s own borders.    

 Our theme this year ‘Principles of Power’ calls for a renewed understanding of how influence should be exercised. At its core, our theme challenges delegates to move beyond treating international relations as a zero-sum game solely focused on national interest and sovereignty and to explore the  ethical, environmental, and social obligations that accompany power. As the United Nations, and more worryingly international cooperation as a concept, faces growing challenges to its efficacy, the challenge to resolve this dilemma could never be more pertinent. At TMUN26 we would like to invite your students to explore how influence can be harnessed not merely to advance individual agendas, but to uphold our shared responsibilities and renew international cooperation.

Your participation in TMUN26 would be invaluable in fostering the kind of thoughtful, principled leadership that this moment demands. TMUN has built a strong reputation for academic rigour, meaningful debate, and an environment where participants are challenged to think critically about the world's most pressing issues. Preparation is vital to making the most of your experience at TMUN26 and upholding the legacy of excellence that Tanglin Trust School reputes.
